What is interchange

interchange logoSome people do business online while others like to socialise. interChange lets you do both – and hopefully build your reputation while you’re at it.

interChange is software that people can use to exchange and store information.

This innovative web application maximises your ability to find and share knowledge and bring people together using web 2.0 paradigms and social networking.

The secret is in the 3 Cs – contribute, collaborate and create.

What can I find?

You can find:

  • people with similar interests
  • resources related to a particular topic. These resources can be directly contributed by others to the website or harvested from other sources
  • groups and communities of practice that have been established on the website.

What content can I create?

  • Books and pages - A book is a dynamic, collaborative, online document. It consists of book pages (web pages).
  • Calendar events - An event is a planned activity with a start and end date and displays in the events calendar.
  • Blog entries (create and maintain blogs and post to blogs)
  • weblinks (add external resources)
  • Poll (create polls)
  • Survey - (create surveys)
  • Upload file - upload your local files to the web.

Vocabularies and tags

You can create your own customised vocabularies to:

  • classify your resources

You can also tag your resources. Tagging enables the end user to classify their content according to their preferred keywords.

How can I collaborate?

You can collaborate with colleagues by:

  • commenting, rating and bookmarking resources
  • working together on a document online
  • form communities of practice with like-minded colleagues around topical issues
  • create your personal profile so others can find you
  • find colleagues with similar interests.

User space

The software allows users to create and manage their own space. From this space users can access their content and their colleagues' content.

Supports RSS feeds

RSS technology makes information available to users without them having to visit particular websites. When content is posted or changes are made an RSS reader keeps track of these changes and delivers them to you as feeds.
